Hypnotherapy

As a Clinical Hypnotherapist, I specialize in Regression and Parts therapies. Regression therapy involves going back to a time either in this life or a past life, in order to get to the very root of the upset or unwanted behaviour in your current life. Depending on what is uncovered, various therapies are used to resolve the issue. In Parts therapy, we communicate in a state of trance with areas of the subconscious that may be involved in keeping you from resolving an issue. Both of these process are highly effective and yield tremendous results.

How Does Hypnosis Work?

Hypnosis is a guided trance or altered state during which you accept suggestions that are of benefit to you and your highest self. Your beautiful mind is organized in such a way as to only allow suggestions that are in allignment with your values and beliefs; a built in protection system!

The next question you may have is “what is a trance state”? We are in a state of light trance several times a day. Consider the feeling you have just before you fall asleep, this is light trance. Or remember a time you drove somewhere and can’t remember how you got there, also a trance state. If you meditate, you may reach a state of trance, possibly even on a deeper level, but there is no way to tell for sure. Hypnosis creates this altered state through physical and mental relaxation and is always done with your permission.

With hypnosis, you are guided into the various degrees of trance with intention. A Hypnotherapist is trained to create the depth of trance best suited for hypnotherapy quickly and effectively and can read the signs this working state is achieved. This allows for a powerful conversation to be had directly with the subconscious mind where permanent and immediate change is made.
All hypnosis is self hypnosis. All there is to do is be open to experiencing trance and allowing yourself to achieve it!

In 1973, Dr. John Kappas, Founder of the Hypnosis Motivation Institute, wrote and defined the profession of a hypnotherapist in the Federal Dictionary of Occupational Titles:

Induces hypnotic state in client to increase motivation or alter behavior patterns: Consults with client to determine nature of problem. Prepares client to enter hypnotic state by explaining how hypnosis works and what client will experience. Tests subject to determine degree of physical and emotional suggestibility. Induces hypnotic state in client, using individualized methods and techniques of hypnosis based on interpretation of test results and analysis of client’s problem. May train client in self-hypnosis conditioning.

The Mind
Your mind has four main components:

The Conscious Mind – the logical, analytical part of the mind
The Conscious Mind protects the physical body. It allows information in and stores it for a maximum of 1.5 hours before moving it to the Critical Mind for evaluation.

The Critical Mind – the “gate keeper”
The job of the Critical Mind is to determine what information gets dropped into storage (Subconscious Mind) and what gets tossed out during sleep or hypnosis. Proper sleep is crucial in order for this part of the mind to do it’s job.

The Sub-Conscious Mind – its job is to Serve and Protect.
The Subconscious Mind makes up 95% of the mind, and plays a big role. It stores all memory, from conception to now, for all time. There is no limit on its capacity for storage. Think of it as a massive filing cabinet with unlimited drawers. This is where all emotions, beliefs, morals, memories, habits and values are stored. It is also the area of the mind where permanent and immediate change is made. The Subconscious Mind cannot tell the difference between the real and the imagined. This is both a hindrance to us and very helpful when you have the skills to alter or change what you are interested in altering or changing.

The Primitive Mind – storage for all dormant information.
The Primitive Mind stores things such as genetics, survival, breathing, heart pumping, digestion and even hair colour. Evolved learning and flight or fight responses are also stored here.
